Off-piste in St. Anton
A Break from the Skis
As beautiful and big the Arlberg ski resort may be: sometimes the body needs a bit of a break. From spa to cross-country skiing, there is so much more to do. Here are some alternatives to skiing in St. Anton.
Toboggan Runs Around St. Anton
Some of the toboggan runs can be reached directly by cable car, others have to be hiked to. The natural toboggan run from Gampen to Nasserein is especially popular: look forward to 15 minutes of toboggan fun: 4km and an altitude difference of 500 metres is what this dashing ride offers. There are toboggan rentals at all sports shops.
Winter Hiking on the Arlberg
Just randomly through nature or on a specific tour. Prepared winter hiking paths are always great alternatives to piste adventures and will take you deep into the natural environment in a very relaxed way. You decide for yourself, choose your own pace and the length of your tour – get great tips directly at your Bergschlössl Hotel or with the hiking map.
The Arlberg skiing school offers guided snowshoe hikes. If you are keen on leaving your own traces away from the beaten tracks and want to discover new places, then the 2 or 3-hour tours are perfectly right for you. Snowshoes are available at all sports shops.
Day Trip to Innsbruck
If you visit us by car, why not take one day off for a trip to Innsbruck? The RailJet train also takes you from the centre of St. Anton directly to Innsbruck centre. By car Tyrol’s capital is only one hour away and attracts with great shopping opportunities, charming coffee houses, museums and impressive historic buildings. Take a stroll through the little alleys in the old town and walk to Golden Roof. Look forward to a melange (one of Austria’s coffee specialties) and discover Tyrolean artists and more about the history of this unique region.
After an Action-packed Day: A Rewarding Break
While elsewhere wild après-ski parties are taking place, here at Basecamp you can expect a pleasant lounge atmosphere and soothing music in the evenings. A well-deserved meal after an off-piste day in St. Anton is already being prepared in the show kitchen: most things on the menu are homemade, from pasta to pastry, and everything is freshly prepared every day. Find us right at the Gampenbahn and Galzigbahn lower terminus.
